I'm looking for an American expression that would mean the following: someone is answering a question but doesn't really want to talk about it.

- Fartaste-te ou desististe?

Asker: Yeah, I know. I remembered 'That's another story' and 'that's a different story', right? I think they both mean the same.

This is entirely idiomatic in English, and would seem to be more likely to be uttered by a native speaker under the circumstances described by the Asker than, "but that's another story."

The longer version of this phrase (which is clearly implied) is, "that's another conversation for another time."

The sense of the phrase is "talking about that would require a separate conversation which I'm not prepared to have right now."
