Portuguese term or phrase: entroncamento entre centrais
Dear collegues,

I'm having some difficulty in finding out this is and I would like and appreciate your help with this very much! Of course, the correspondant technical term is needed.

CONTEXT:

"A nova solução deverá prover o controle de facilidades, entroncamento entre centrais, interconexões e clientes DDR´s , E1 e 7ip , propiciando a montagem de topologia dos entroncamentos entre os recursos de comutação monolítica e NGN."

Allow me to thank you all for your suggestions in advance!
Thank you!

toll switching trunk
Explanation:
Here you have some material to research... I know about telephony networks, but I´m not very familiar with the terms used in USA...

"Centrais" are switching offices (first commuting center near the subscriber)
"entroncamento" is like trunking, signal forwarding, interconnection of equipment (linking); more or less like "interfacing" that Mr. HOllywood suggested

If this can help you a little...

A trunk line is a circuit connecting telephone switchboards (or other switching equipment), as distinguished from local loop circuit which extends from telephone exchange switching equipment to individual telephones or information origination/termination equipment.

Look there also for the terms (the direct links don´t appear to be copied, are all the same):

Trunk; Central office; Switching

Note that this is the official USA government glossary of telecommunications (Federal Standard 1037C).

If this doesn´t close the question, I think all this will help you on this project if you understand something about the telephony networking.

neutral  Daniel Tavares: I like the term "interfacing". However, I hardly believe that "center" is used as a translation of "central" in this context.

neutral  Daniel Tavares: Not exactly a computer system, but a switching system. One can't remove the word "switch" (or "switching"), otherwise the phrase will loose its meaning.

neutral  Roberto Bittencourt: I agree with Mr. Tavares, this is pure telephony terminology. Maybe my answer is not 100% precise, but "centrais" is switches, switching offices (centrais de comutação). "Central systems", as you gave, in PT would be "sistemas centrais": too generic
