Thank you all, but I reckon I'll likely go with Ana's suggestion of 'straightforward summaries'.

Or, of course I may just say 'short reports', which seems to wrap up the entire thing in a way normal human beings can understand

You could say succinct! But I think "compreensíveis" is f*cked up in the original.

On the same track, i have seen "cartas não-ilegíveis não serão aceitas", which wouls seem to reduce the work of the letter readers considerably...

Não acho impossível, apesar de eu nunca ter visto com o sentido inglês. Ninguém mais sabe português nos dias de hoje. Já vi elegível com o sentido inglês de eligible e non-applicable traduzido como não aplicável.

If it really is a summary (sínteses) then I can't get my head around it having to be - understandable/straight forward or what ever.
Summary - definition - a ​brief, ​clear ​statement giving the most ​important ​facts about something: Eg. The ​assignment was to write a summary of the ​news. ANYHOO! No Nick, I think it's just emphasising that these summaries or whatever have to be readable, and that's a skill lacking in many, and well worth putting on the syllabus... besides, 'comprehensive summary' sounds a bit like an oxymoron

Luciano I think is is a double bluff situation. "compreensíveis" if it really means "understandable" in this case.....does that mean.... (yeah yeah I know it's Portuguese) that stuff is normally "INcompreensíveis" - I hope Im gettin my point across...:-)
