Portuguese term or phrase: Palhetas/Pas v Blades/Vanes
Im translating a report on a Gas Turbine (from a thermal plant) but in the referred to damage in question they refer to the Air Compressor, not the turbine, are these one and the same? Or do they mean the pressurised part of the turbine chamber?
Following this doubt I have always been inclined to call palhetas/pas Turbine Blades, but I do reacll from egineering days they are/were called vanes specifically in Stage Compressors, maybe I am complicating my own life here, but the text below also appears to differentiate between blades and vanes.
It wud make my life much easier for this large Laudo if i could stick to one or the other, or is it necessary to differentiate? Maybe blades on the raotating part and vanes on the fixed??

The main goal of the compressor is to increase pressure. A compressor stage is composed of a blade-mounted rotor and a vane-mounted stator. The shape of the blade is an airfoil and as the gas flows through the rotor and the stator it gains static pressure, since the blades form a expander. Speed is however gained in the rotor section, because of the high rotational speed of the blades. Stator vanes remove the resulting swirl, and converts the velocity (dynamic pressure) to static pressure, thus increasing again the pressure. The volume occupied by the gas can consequently drop as the pressure increases, intake area will be greater than compressor discharge area. Due to friction and pressure rise, temperature will be increased too.
