Aromatic chili or pepper(US Eng) chilli (BR ENG)
Explanation:
This is a difficult one to translate as it is a pepper native to Brazil and virtually unknown beyond its borders. There are literally thousands of different types of peppers globally and they normally keep their original name, such as malagueta, Jalepeno and chipotle.

What makes this one more difficult is the addition of de in the name, so you can't simply call it de cheiro pepper (or chilli) and for this reason I chose aromatic pepper.

The term pepper is more common in the US, but chili is used. Outside the US they would generally use the word chilli.

If you are not satisfied with aromatic pepper, you could always call it cheiro pepper, which would maintain the tradition of keeping the original name.

agree  Michele Bittencourt: According to the Houaiss dictionary, pimenta-de-cheiro = pimenta-malagueta.

-> Absolutely not! Malagueta peppers are reasonably hot, 50,000 -80,000 on the scoville scale and are typically thin pepper shape, wheres pimenta de cheiro is usually very mild and a much rounder shape.

neutral  BLR: 'cheiro' just means smell or odour. I have seen the translation 'sweet pepper', which I believe is 'bell pepper' in the USA. But those are called 'pimentão' in Brazil.
