Cebolinha e cebola são coisas diferentes. Nunca vi usar o termo "anelado" (pelo menos na cozinha), mas cortes transversais produzem aneisinhos (especialmente quando próximos à parte verde).

Hi Andrew,

onion rings would be "anéis de cebola" in Portuguese. I've never seen chives in Brazil, so I doubt that's what they mean, but fresh scallions are quite common (often sold along with parsley or cilantro as "cheiro verde"). If this is a recipe, I would guess they are referring to the dehydrated stuff, so I'd go for "green onion flakes"

in this case, I think it's probably chives _ they are more commonly found as dried spices. As far as I understand, curly chives (aka German galic, Allium senescens) are ornamental http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFind...

Asker: Beatriz thanks but my question was, Cebolinha Anelada - Is this Curly Chives (it exists) or onion rings

Asker: Thanks yr comments Bea, its a bit complicated as the product is imported from China, and I guess is dehydrated to to put into the cooking additive (bit like Aginomoto etc) so altho I appreciate chives are not encountered in Brazil (except in my horta here rsrsr!) it cud be chives, or maybe your suggestion of onion flakes too - complicated neh!?

Hi Andrew,

I googled around and found only one site in portuguese with “cebolinha anelada”.

It says CEBOLINHA ANELADA 4-5 MM - (...)
I hate onions, but I don’t think 4 to 5 mm onion rings would be, well, viable.

Then I looked for “cebolinha verde anelada” and found a couple of sites one can buy them from.
One of the sites has a picture of such "cebolinhas" - it's said they are imported from China, and they’re sold as a tempero:
