Hello everyone! I am not quite sure how to translate this term into English. Do they mean "active individuals"? I think this is what they mean since they are talking about people who practice illicit acts on the Internet. What do you think?

Dentre esses meios de comunicação destaca-se a Internet, uma rede de computadores interligados que desempenha importante papel em nossa sociedade. Com o advento da Internet e sua popularização maciça no planeta, foram descobertas maneiras de se praticar atos ilícitos utilizando-se desse meio, em especial os crimes que afetam o patrimônio de cidadãos, empresas e instituições. Em virtude de tais práticas, analisou-se essas práticas sob o enfoque da legislação pátria, em especial o Código Penal Brasileiro, que trata dos crimes contra o patrimônio. Aspectos relevantes das respectivas condutas foram abordados, como a atuação dos **sujeitos ativos***, o posicionamento doutrinário e jurisprudencial acerca do tema e demais situações em torno da prática dos crimes digitais contra o patrimônio, referenciando-se para tais crimes a aplicabilidade e/ou adaptação da legislação vigente.

I really appreciate the help from you guys! But, I decided to choose Luciano's suggestion this time because it makes more sense as "sujeitos ativos" in the context means "the culprits" or the ones involved in these illicit activities. I was going to say "active individuals" as also suggested by Marlene but after doing some careful thinking, I realized it would not make much sense in English (not in this context), although this is the "literal" translation :) Thanks a million everyone!

I think the general way of putting is better since they don't mention the words "criminosos".

There is a slight semantic difference between perpetrator and culprit. The former is the person who actually commits the crime, the latter is the one accused or convicted of it. From what I understand, SA refers to the one who actually commits the crime (though I may be wrong about it).
