I would like to know whether my translation of the following sentence is correct.
Suspender o tratamento com BTX-A em prazo de 12 meses ou mais pode levar a volta da resposta mas rapidamente e ela costuma ser perdida de novo.

Suspending treatment with BTX-A for a period of 12 months or more may bring about the return of the response but it is usually rapidly lost again.

English translation:could it be that...
Explanation:
...you have a typo in your original and it should be "...mas rapidamente ela costuma ser perdida de novo."

In that case, your translation would be ok.

Thanks. Most of the respondents overlooked the fact that Portuguese "mas" means "but," NOT "more."

cause a backlash in the response

Explanation:
gives me the impression of this:
suspending treatment with BTX- A for a period of 12 months or longer may cause a backlash in the response, but it usually goes away again.

agree  Elena Sgarbo (X): Yes; and Jeanne, in Medicine is not as common to say "suspending treatment" as it is to say "withholding treatment" :-)

disagree  Jane Lamb-Ruiz (X): where do you get backlash from? I have never heard that in a medical context and I think it is better to be closer to the original in medicine...

discontinuing

Explanation:
instead of "suspending", use "discontinuing".
Parece MUITO que sua frase em português já havia sido originalmente traduzide de uma frase em inglês, e poderia ter sido traduzida de forma mais clara de se entender.
