Meteorology / climate characterisation
Portuguese term or phrase: a salsugem
In a piece referring to the effect of wind on a particular geographical area of Portugal (the subject of produzem is os ventos). This is within a more general text describing the region; it is not a specialised meteorological text as such.

I have found 'saltness' 'salt mud' 'salineness' for salsugem. Would 'salinity' fit? I really would like to know a) what it refers to (salt in the air? salt in the soil?) and b) what the technical term would be in EN.

Many thanks.
