Tech/Engineering - Military / Defense / parts of historical cannons
Portuguese term or phrase: rabo e pião de canhão
This comes from a history manuscript containing a simple list of the parts of cannons in the 16th-17th centuries that colonial forts in Brazil had to purchase to remain well-armed. I know "rabo" is literally a "tail," while "pião" usually refers to a spinning top (child's toy), but these are not terms used in English for any cannon part. I also need help with terms for other parts of cannons from this period: reparo, carregador, atacador, chave. Since they appear in a simple list, I can supply no sentences for more context. I have tried to compare the explanation of cannon parts from Wikipedia's entry on "cannon" (see url below) but, not being familiar with weaponry, I can't figure out what part corresponds to which term. The Portuguese Wikipedia entry for "canhão" (below) does not include a description of cannon parts for comparison.

If any history or artillery buffs know what these terms would be in English, I would be very appreciative. Thanks!
