Jones riffle (splitter) Explanation: Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but maybe. "Jones riffle An apparatus used for cutting the size of a **sample**. It consists of a hopper above a series of open-bottom pockets, usually 1/2 in or 3/4 in (1.27 cm or 1.91 cm) wide, which are so constructed as to discharge alternately, first into a pan to the right, and then into another pan to the left. Each time the sample is passed through the riffle, it is divided into two equal parts; the next pass of one of those parts will give a quarter of the original sample, and so on, until the sample is reduced to the desired weight." http://www.webref.org/geology/j/jones_riffle.htm cf. "MA-064 : Quarteador de **amostras** Quarteador em aço inox AISI 304 tipo "Jones" para cereais, pós, granulados e outros. Com canais e abertura de canaletas variadas de acordo com modelo abaixo ou especificações definidas pelo usuário." http://www.marconi.com.br/busca_produtos.jsp?cat=46 |

Jones separator Explanation: I'm not completely sure about this, but it seems likely. This is what I could find out about "Jones quarteador": Low-grade ore is treated in a concentrator where waste shale is removed by heavy-medium separation (HMS). The low-grade ore, a mixture of well-liberated haematite and shale, feeds the concentrator and undergoes HMS and wet high-intensity magnetic separation (WHIMS) to produce saleable lump and fines products. The WHIMS plant contains three modules, each with one Jones DP317 separator. http://www.mining-technology.com/projects/hamersley/ |
