Just know from my experience working for a mining company.
By the way, a homogenization pile is not the same, that is a pile where they make the correct mixture of minerals for the end product. These are two very different things.

Lung pile


Explanation:
In some process plants, crushed material is deposited through a conveyor belt onto a pile. Beneath this pile there is a place called a “lung” which has 1 or more belts that send the material to a grinding mill so the material can be further reduced in size. The pile above the lung is called a lung pile or pilha pulmão in portuguese. In this case the pile is composed of pellets. The RPM mine in Paracatu and the Maracá mine in Goiás both have pilha pulmão.

agree  rainerbit: HFJ Miner describes a pile above a gravity reclaim feeder. The "lung" is a gravity reclaim feeder, and the "lung pile" is a surge pile, buffer pile, or gravity reclaim feeder pile. "pile" is also often called a "stockpile".
