Hardpans Explanation: cangas => Hardpans As cangas que ocupam grande parte da superfície do solo da Serra são formações raras, que ocorrem apenas na região conhecida como Quadrilátero Ferrífero, na Região Central de Minas Gerais, e em Carajás, no Pará. Cangas são indicativos da presença de minério de ferro. Estas cangas contém enorme heterogeneidade topográfica, concentrando em pequena área grande variedade de vegetação, que por sua vez atrai fauna diversificada e própria.
