Rough Seas Explanation: Apenas uma sugestão. Pelo que encontrei no site abaixo, não é "in the doldrums" or "stagnant winds", pois isso refere-se ao vento, e a expressão vem da condição do mar em si. MAR DESENCONTRADO. O que apresenta ondulações em duas direções contrárias. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 20 mins (2007-12-01 23:47:45 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- "The Doldrums" Se refere a uma área do mar, geralmente perto da linha do Equador, onde há pouco ou nenhum vento. Navios regularmente demoravam dias para percorrer distâncias que normalmente seriam cobertas em poucas horas. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 23 mins (2007-12-01 23:51:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Perhaps there is a specific nautical term for a sea whose waves come from two directions at once. However, I could not find it in the time I spent to check this term. Still, I hope It helps. Reference: http://www.portogente.com.br/texto.php?cod=269 |
