Cale ferată îngustă, provizorie, alcătuită din panouri de șine care se așază direct pe teren și care pot fi ușor montate sau demontate, folosită pentru exploatări locale și temporare. ♦ (Impr.) Tren care circulă pe o asemenea linie. ♦ (Impr.) Cale ferată îngustă stabilă. [Pl. și: decoviluri] – Din fr. décauville.

The Decauville manufacturing company was founded by Paul Decauville (1846–1922), a French pioneer in industrial railways. Decauville's major innovation was the use of ready-made sections of light, narrow gauge track fastened to steel sleepers; this track was portable and could be disassembled and transported very easily.

The carriages transported the cars to the entrance of the drying tunnels where they were transferred to narrow-gauge tracks running through the hot air dehydrator drying tunnels.

neutral  IoanaDumitrescu: "Decauville lines/tracks" e folosit în special, cel puţin în ce oferă Google, pentru linii folosite în trecut, în istoria căilor ferate, ori textul nostru pare actual.
