Romanian to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
Cazuri particulare de evaluare a presiunii pământului asupra zidurilor de sprijin
Cazul paramentului amonte frânt
În cazul unui zid de sprijin cu paramentul amonte frânt, presiunea pământului se calculează separat pentru fiecare latură a acestuia.

Mulțumesc.

Well, What is your solution for "fractured"?
Nicolae Buzoianu (asker) Sep 16, 2019:
@ All, although I will find another solution for "fractured", I will close this question and award the points to Sandra& Kenneth. Thanks.
Paramentul amonete remains the same, irrespective of the source of pressure and means "upstream-side of dam" i.e, lake side.

@ All, I am sorry I did not provide a more relevant context when I posted the question.
Here is some additional context: "În cazul zidurilor de sprijin la evaluarea presiunii pământului se va ţine seama şi de următoarele aspecte:
- forma geometrică a paramentului amonte al zidului (linie frântă de exemplu)".
Also, this text refers to retaining walls used in excavations, therefore pressure is exercised by soil, and not water. Would you say that "upstream" still applies?
Thank you!

fractured cladding upstream (of dam)

In this case, literally upstream.

neutral Sandra & Kenneth Grossman : Coating means paint, such as whitewash. No impact on pressure.

Thank you Sandra&Kenneth :)

(claddings built) upwall ruptured

unless input and output VAT, upstream and downstream are often pre- and post- or up- and downline.
Example sentence:

Barajul a fost realizat din umplutură de balast, etanșat la paramentul amonte cu mască din folie PVC de 0,4 si 0,5 mm, lestată cu dale de beton armat.

The iso-deflection lines obtained from tube specimens lie always above those obtained from segments of ruptured claddings and the 15% equivalent oxidation line.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Sandra & Kenneth Grossman : Upwall would mean at the top of the wall. Here, the term means on the lake side of the dam, i.e., literally upstream//As a keen runner myself, does it mean that running uphill is "amonte"? :)

Multumesc! As I - albeit a keen swimmer - had surmised without a clear idea of the parament, there is nothing wet about the scenario. Otherwise, 9 times out of 10 in French at least, en amont means 'upline' or input and en aval 'downline' or output.
