- Termeni slavoni, pătrunşi în cultura românească în secolele al XIV-lea şi al XV-lea[1]: voievod, gospodar, gospodin. Iniţial voievod denumea doar pe conducătorul armatei, apoi a denumit şi pe liderul statal, care a preluat şi funcţia militară.

agree  Lara Barnett: If this term were used a gloss would be needed. I can't imagine many English speakers would know the meaning without searching Wikipedia etc. because it is rarely used.
