Romanian term or phrase: traducător autorizat
Documentele justificative, precum si orice declaraţii in limba străină vor fi insotite de traduceri in limba romana certificate de traducători autorizaţi, potrivit prevederilor art.8, alin.(2) din O.G nr.92/2003 privind Codul de procedura fiscala, republicata, cu modificările si completările ulterioare.

From what I know, "traducător autorizat" in Romania is the one who is authorised by the Ministry of Justice. But is it a "sworn translator" as it is understood in other countries or simply an "authorised translator"?

  -> Multumesc Klara!:)

agree  Irina-Livia: In Romania both variants, sworn and certified translator, are equally used and refer to the same thing: the authorization/certification granted upon examination by the Ministry of Justice to translate and interpret legal material.

neutral  Annamaria Amik: Irina, unfortunately certification is NOT granted after examination only, most of the "certified" translators are just graduates of languages, never actually examined for legal translation :)

agree  Andrei Octavian Andrei: Fix așa, chiar dacă îmi sună mai bine certified translator.

agree  Annamaria Amik: Şi eu prefer varianta aceasta, eventual Court Translator.
