it created waves in the soup Explanation: This is not only scientifically accurate but somehow it manages to be also a most poetic solution. I would also offer these possibilities: * the sound creased the surface of the thick soup * the soup revolted * a storm began in the soup |

the soup churned in the plates Explanation: One thing: if it's a story from a time earlier than the 20th century, don't use modern words like "create" or "wave", they will be anachronic (except in a scientific context). |
