Russian term or phrase: пронимальная символика
... вся женская работа связана с репродуктивными ассоциациями, поскольку именно женская атрибутика обладает пронимальной символикой, использование которой предполагает погружение/протаскивание/порождение: полая утварь (посуда, корыта, бадьи, ступа и др.) ...

I have already read every definition of пронимать as far back as Даль and seen most of what is said about пронимальная символика on Яндекс. Suggested translations of пронимальная символика are more than welcome, but what I would really like to know is how do native speakers understand this term (по-русски)?

Thanks!

penetrators/penetrating symbolism
Explanation:
I'm not Russian and have no idea how Russians would understand this. The only thing that came to mind from your passage is that this is related to sewing, knitting, etc. where an object, a needle or whatever is used for knitting, penetrates (e.g. fabric) in the process of creating. Obviously as a corrupted male I can see some potential for sexual (Freudian?) symbolism, but I'm guessing.

Thank you, Henry, Alya and Svetlana! I will say "penetrating symbolism," since the definition of "penetrating" in English also covers the meanings that Svetlana mentions. The reference Alya provided is very helpful.
