Phyllo dough is made with flour, water, and a small amount of oil and raki or white vinegar, though some dessert recipes also call for egg yolks. Homemade phyllo takes time and skill, requiring progressive rolling and stretching to a single thin and very large sheet. A very big table and a long roller are used, with continual flouring between layers to prevent tearing.

Здесь основное то, что тесто должно быть тонким и для выпечки выкладывается слоями. Слоеное тесто немного отличается от фило (меньше жиров в фило и больше муки), но иногда оба вида теста могут заменять друг друга.

  -> Тем не менее, из всех видов выпечки, которые я пробовала в США, именно изделия из филло мне больше всего напоминают русские слойки. Но, конечно, существуют и разные виды изделий из филло, и разные виды слоек. Без рецепта или не попробовав сказать сложно.
