По моему личному убеждению, слово "dissemination" для этого контекста и предложения не совсем подходит. Лучше использовать просто "spread".

... write it like this: "The prize is awarded in recognition of service in the dissemination, to members of society, of knowledge about achievements in physics, particularly research on the properties of various elements." And then I would append a note saying, "I have complied with your request to use the word 'society,' but I would like to advise you, from the standpoint of my life as a native speaker of English, my education in English, and my 45 years of professional experience in the Ru > En pair," that any version with 'society' sounds foreign and is excessively wordy; normal usage would be..." - and then give the version with "public dissemination."

Работодатели? Организаторы конкурса? Дело в том, что по-английски лучше выражать такие вещи через слово "public" без "in society."
