(in this case) to take a running jump Explanation: "To take a running jump" means accelerating as you run from a standing start before jumping over some obstacle. So in this case, simply "He took a running jump over the recruiting Office fence". "Take a running jump!" is also used as a rude way of telling someone to go away or of rejecting a suggestion. |
