This year we're going on holiday to Italy, а говорят: This year we 'regoing on vacation to Italy.

Vanya organized such a holiday for us!
We had such a wonderful time at Vanya's place/Vanya entertained us magnificently.
We really enjoyed ourselves/We all had a fabulous time.

Можно использовать разные прилагательные good, nice, wonderful, fabulous, awesome, phenomenal.

I'm just not sure to what extent the idiom emphasizes quality over quantity or vice-versa—or whether it nicely covers both.
