Установка (компонента ПО) на отдельный сервер в разрыв между почтовым сервером и шлюзом

Installation instructions:

1. Установить xxxxx компонент на отдельный сервер. В процессе установки необходимо указать имя или IP-адрес сервера DLP.
2. Настроить почтовый сервер таким образом, чтобы исходящая почта перенаправлялась на сетевой интерфейс сервера xxxxxx, который указан в пункте Сетевой интерфейс для приема почты от внутреннего почтового сервера.
3. В разделе SMTP-сервер пункта Распространяемые настройки создать новую настройку, в которой указать:
- IP-адрес внутреннего почтового сервера,
- IP-адреса сетевых интерфейсов для приема почты снаружи локальной сети и от внутреннего почтового сервера,
- IP-адрес адрес сервера доставки почтовых сообщений (шлюза)
- обслуживаемый домен (значение в почтовом адресе после знака @).
4. Применить данную настройку. После применения настройки компонент xxxxx получит ее параметры с сервера DLP, в результате чего письма начнут перехватываться и помещаться в архив.

Your client's commentary is self-explanatory. I would avoid using words like 'gap' or 'split' because they add nothing to the meaning of the phrase. I have consulted my former schoolmate, who is now a software engineer at one of Saint-Petersburg's web application development companies, and was told that jargon like that sounded obscure and wordy to him. So, I think BETWEEN is enough here for the purpose of your translation.

More information Thank you all for the answers. I have asked the client for more information on this piece, and this is what's going on here.

Originally, on the network, the endpoint is connected to the Mail server, which in turn is connected directly to the gateway. The client's product (a DLP system component) is then installed on the network between the Mail server and the gateway so that it can monitor the mail and intercept anything suspicious.

I, of course, can just say "installation between the Mail server and the gateway" but is this technically correct, or is there a specific term for this I need to use?
