In certain cases... would also presuppose the Explanation: I would move the word order around a bit so that the full sentence reads like this: In certain cases, Mr. XXX's simultaneous tenure as the general director of both the Company and YYY would also presuppose the Company's improper performance of its obligations to ZZZ... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 hrs (2019-06-01 12:42:06 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I'd have to read more of the text to get the fuller context, of course, but I think it's reasonable to assume that "in certain cases," the law frowns upon a person serving as the general director of two companies at once, thereby creating a situation that "would also presuppose the Company's improper performance of its obligations." "In certain cases" is already a qualifier, allowing for use of the more assertive "presuppose" (in some cases, the mere fact of this dual tenure would indeed presuppose its dereliction of duty). |
