Russian term or phrase: явно вводить в обозначения
Характеристические функции f(x) зависят от параметра n, но в обозначения эту зависимость явно вводить не будем.

Имеется в виду, что останется старое обозначение функции f(x), хотя надо было бы указать явную зависимость от n, то есть f(x, n).

indicate this explicitly
Explanation:
Although the characteristic functions f(x) depend on (the parameter) n, we will not indicate this explicitly (in our notation).

but this dependency will not be explicitly shown in the symbolism

Explanation:
I'm a bit puzzled by the tense. If it's old symbolism, why use it now and in the future?

will not explicitly be shown to avoid splitting the passive.

Actually, I think "notation" would be better than "symbolism". I was getting hung up on a dictionary translation of обозначение.

agree  Drunya: Agree, agree, agree!!! Wholeheartedly! It must be telepathy at work: I was also thinking about the dependency not being shown and about notation, but was too unsure of the answer.

agree  Elena Ivaniushina: why not write directly "but we will not be explicitly introducing this notation"? "introduce notation" - это довольно устойчивое сочетание
