"Г.Я.П" may also mean a guards regiment ("гвардейский полк") from a Soviet city, town or region beginning with "Я". For example, "гвардейский ярославский полк". But there are many place names beginning with "Я" in the former Soviet Union. So the number of possibilities is too great to be sure.

It might be worth mentioning that this German vehicle was undergoing mobility tests at a site where the Nazis were testing captured Soviet vehicles. So it is possible that they saw Г.Я.П. on one of those vehicles and thought putting it on the German vehicle might fool an observer into thinking it was just another captured vehicle. if possible, I would like to add a footnote explaining what the letters mean. I think readers might find it interesting.
