Enforcement or power? Explanation: With a subject like export controls, you may very wel be dealing with enforcement authorities, but I think in this case the reference is more likely to point at some sort of a trade commission, a Ministry, etc. In which case the putsch-era Power Ministers and Ministries come to mind, who were called "silovye ministry/ministerstva". I would suggest that approach, i.e. power ministries, export control powers, power organizations, etc. Just my $0.02 :-) Best of luck! |

force strutures Explanation: It can be funny, but the sense of this term SILOVYYE STRUKTURY can be interpeted as a part of state power which possess force (e.g., weapons, armed and trained military or "half-military" people, etc.). With respect to state, the use of this term in Russian realityvshows that into this term journalists and mass-media usually inlcude militia (police), so-called "special services" (intelligence services and counter-spy structures), the part of army which is termed "interior forces", forces of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, part of Federal Service for Government Communication (I use a free translation of the FAPSI:)), frontier troops. Sometimes, the army is also included into this term. More simpple is to translate this as power force authorities, or armed part of state structure, defense forces and interior armed forces, etc. The term in question appeared somewhere 8-12 years ago in speeches of public statesmen, journalism, etc. If you have an access to Moscow News newspaper, I might advise to list some articles there, you will find that they translate is in different ways (thougth I highly appreciate the level of translation in this paper, which is usually done there by quite perfect translators). law enforcement agencies Explanation: My answer may not be perfect, but at least it sounds like English, which the others don't. It may or may not be appropriate depending on the context. Other answers offered are understandable, but obvious come from non-native speakers. If we are really including some kind of military body in this picture, then maybe "security and law enforcement branches of government." |
