to sensors just as well 22:28 Jul 10, 2010
I have dead pixels in one of my cameras that are stuck in a variety of states. I can imagine a well amplifier "melting" if it is hit by a proton, for example. It will start leaking, which will render it insensitive to light, but it may still be readable. Another scenario is when the multiplexor gate is hit and goes incommunicado.
This confusing array of words tries to resolve the confusion created by two possible uses of "dead": (1) there is no connection to it. (2) there is a signal coming, but it does not respond to light. I don't feel I will sound like a fool if I simply say "dead" in all cases. They are dead for all practical purposes and are handled in the same way regardless of the cause -- by dark frame subtraction. |
