agree  David Knowles: Just "keep his mouth shut". No need to go overboard with the slang!

agree  Katya Kesten: with specifically using "blabbermouth" because "keeping one's mouth shut" is associated with not revealing information (keeping a secret).

to wax poetic

Explanation:
1. To become increasingly verbose.
2. (often pejorative) To speak in an increasingly verbose manner, as if constructing poetry.

In speech, more often than not, this is used ironically to reflect that someone's been going on and on (speaking) for an unnecessarily long time and to make fun of the way they were doing it (often giving something exaggerated importance).

"I just hope he doesn't start waxing poetic, again." If the character saying this is referring to a particular situation in which this occurred and not to a character trait.

Example sentence(s):
  • I just hope he doesn't start waxing poetic like he normally does.

disagree  Boris Shapiro: The stylistics here are very much different. / Theoretically, yes. But do note Pavlo's reaction in the discussion thread. 'Wax lyrical', however sarcastically used, would never trigger such a reaction. It lacks the intrinsic rudeness of the original.

  -> I think губаторить is a "gopnik" thing so I feel like it works because rappers, also associated with a certain social class (before they make it, at least) often specifically pepper their lyrics with big words they learned in school.
