Достопримечательности - то, чем город знаменит и по чему его узнают. Часто это памятники архитектуры, площади, монументы.
Виды города - любые красивые или интересные виды. Панорамы, улицы, аллеи парков, вид на водем (море, река), здания.

Совершенно разные вещи, а объясняю потому, что те, кого я просила перевести, спрашивали у меня, чем они отличаются и оба термина переводили как sites.

Explanation:
Ответ частичный, поскольку по поводу видов все ответы уже даны.

Places of interest - это для достопримечательностей

Разница в том, что достопримечательности не обязательно должны радовать взоры праздных туристов - это "интеллектуальная" часть посещения города, например, мавзолей Владимира Ильича (пардон) или выставка коллекции минералов в Музее естественной истории никак не могут считаться city views, но всегда найдутся желающие посетить и то, и другое.
