Russian term or phrase: сладкая настойка
В рекламном буклете встретилось: "Завод выпускает водки, горькие и сладкие настойки, наливки и ликеры, бальзам и джин". Будучи ценителем сухого вина:-), не понимаю большой разницы между сладкими настойками, наливками и ликерами, отсюда трудности в передаче. Мне кажется, это все будет liqueur. Помогите с вариантами.

Both sweet and bitter nastoyka are made. As obvious from the ingredients below, it is not vodka. But like "vodka," a Russian name, nastoyka is also used in the marketplace since there is no English equivalent (that I know of!). The site below is in Russian and English

М.б. herb liqour/tincture - настойки, насколько я понимаю, обычно на травах, наливки - на фруктах-ягодах (как говорил один мой приятель, "грушки-яблочки"), ликёры - на сиропах.

agree  Vladimir Dubisskiy: the problem here: in ukrainian we use "nastoyanka" (same thing, but even better than the Russian one - so how to be politically correct, eh) :-))
