S obzirom da ste odredili da je vojna terminologija u pitanju, pretpostavljam da se radi o vojniku koji je dosta toga prošao na frontu pa bih onda stavio ovako kako sam i predložio.

Mislim da bi možda moglo da dođe u obzir i 'seasoned'. Fighter bih izbegao jer se to više odnosi na sportsku terminologiju, tj. borilačke sportove.
