OK, thanks for the extra info. In the absence of a direct equivalent programme in the UK, and given that these are mainly financial incentives, then I think it should be fine.

Well, Simon, the Government of Serbia has adopted the Strategy to encourage the population to have new babies. There is sth that is called birth allowance - it is one time cash assistance for the third and fourth baby. In addition to this cash stimulus, the Government has adopted this Strategy includes financial incentives for parents with many children, free schoolbooks, reconciliation of familiy responsibilities and work, etc. so it covers comprehensive measures and it seems programmes. And in Serbian the title is Strategija podsticanja radjanja- which literally is birth incentive strategy - but if in english it sounds awkward... The english version is for the audience whose mother toung is english and for all others that is who are more or less proficient in english. I am trying to find the expression that won't make the readers laugh but interested in the programme. What do you think of it?

...such as extra social security payments of the type seen in Germany (and Russia I think). If the strategy envisages more generic support then something else may be required.

the term 'birth incentive program/strategy' (there is a BIG difference between the two - you may have a strategy but not yet have developed a program to implement this strategy) implies financial support or rewards for giving birth...

Tatjana - Child-birth isn't my speciality, at least not to date, so I cannot really comment but I am 90% certain it is of US origin. UK English can differ significantly in bureaucratic speak, though terms increasingly make their way across the pond to us.

is a term I 've found on the web. I thought it might be handy in this case. Thanks for your comment. What do you suggest, how could it be titled then in BrE? Can you comment on here proposed 'birth incentive strategy' how does it sound to you. A lot of our colleagues find it useful. Thanks for your effort.

Tatjana, are you looking for US or UK? I am not familiar with pro-natality, it may be a US term...
