Context: dit is een van de veiligheidsmaatregelen die een technisch installateur moet treffen voordat hij werkzaamheden gaat uitvoeren aan een niet onder spanning staande installatie.

"Ciertas maniobras se ejecutan sin establecer o interrumpir corriente, se las llama maniobras de seccionamiento, para distinguirlas de las de interrupción. [...] El aparato que cumple esta función se llama seccionador, y se trata de un aparato electromecánico cuya función es estando abierto soportar la aislacion entre dos partes del circuito, en cualquier condición mantener la aislacion hacia masa, y estando cerrado conducir corrientes normales permanentemente, y sobrecargas y cortocircuitos por tiempos establecidos."

Aparato de seccionamiento is dus synoniem aan seccionador, en dat is in het Engels in deze context "isolator switch". Vertaald in het Nederlands: isolatieschakelaar.

De 'complicatie' is misschien, dat de isolatie in werking is als deze schakelaar aanstaat, dus andersom dan een gewone lichtschakelaar.
