A seedbed or seedling bed is the local soil environment in which seeds are planted. Often it comprises not only the soil but also a specially prepared cold frame, hotbed or raised bed used to grow the seedlings in a controlled environment into larger young plants before transplanting them into a garden or field. A seedling bed is used to increase the number of seeds that germinate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seedbed Nuestros resultados ofrecen nuevos senderos con respecto al desempeño de estos dos prometedores herbicidas y la importancia de considerar las propiedades del suelo cuando se vayan a hacer aplicaciones de herbicidas pre-emergentes para reducir la germinación y emergencia de pastos anuales invasores y crear un banco de siembra adecuado para la re-vegetación. Our results shed new light on the relative performance of these two promising herbicides and the importance of considering soil properties when applying pre-emergence herbicides to reduce germination and emergence of invasive annual grasses and create suitable seedbed conditions for revegetation. https://www.jstor.org/stable/41495343?seq=1#page_scan_tab_co... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 52 mins (2019-05-09 17:28:49 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Seedlings grown in raised seedbeds are removed from the nursery soil when large enough and are bare-rooted when planted in the field. Seedlings grown in individual containers have an intact root system encapsulated in a soil plug for planting. In either case, the system can be highly mechanized. To enhance seedling quality, the seedbeds or container media are inoculated with specific microorganisms that form symbiotic relationships with the seedlings. https://www.britannica.com/science/forestry/Purposes-and-tec... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVcRb5Fe_M8 |
