Patrilineal descent (theories or systems) Explanation: Wow, this was a tough one. The word does not have an equivalent in English, the nearest I found were these. Page 66, "Norms of descent": http://books.google.com/books?id=MzMOoxY8o9UC&lpg=PA66&ots=N... The description is identical to the Spanish one. |

andro-centric theories of reproduction Explanation: I don't think matrilineal or patrilineal descent is the issue here, rather, folk beliefs that reproduction is due solely to the male consticbution, with the female seen as merely a vessel. It used to be believed that each sperm contained a 'homunculus'- a human being in miniature. I realise that andro-centric introduces a Greek rather than Latin etymology: maybe it should be contrasted with 'gynocentric' theories. |

Reference: Escherichia coli Reference information: http://jb.asm.org/cgi/reprint/156/3/1052.pdf It seems they are all related to E.c. There are uxu and vir genes and they can take an additional, or two, letter.
