hooked stick Explanation: well, on further reading of the Asturian site, it seems to be a hook made from a branch of a tree, so.. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 17 mins (2011-04-06 19:57:20 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- a billhook would be horrendous, also I don't know whether they were even invented in the 18th Century!! |

pole hook Explanation: Whether it was connected to a pole I don't know, but this would make sense in any case as until quite recently the wooden shafts of tools were replaced and one often saw the metal sections stored or stashed in various locations. |
