halfway between the subject ... Explanation: Something halfway between 2 things. The problem with translating this kind of text is that it is often difficult to remain faithful to the original without ending up sounding terribly clunky, or spending ages getting each turn of phrase into a satisfactory state for the target audience. Here's one stab at it from me, but it's by no means ideal (I'm really not happy with the two "thats"): "It is something halfway between that described for posterity in the ancient texts and, on the other hand, that which now displays a degree of concern for the surviving vestiges of this/that culture." |
