Spanish term or phrase: musealización
This is a text on museums and archaeology. This word comes up a lot. A translator in an earlier translation put museumisation, which the client understandably wasn't too happy with. I don't think there's a one word translation, rather it needs to be explained as concisely as possible.

Here's an example sentence:

"En este ambito, desarollamos diferentes lineas de investigacion, tales como musealizacion de la Guerra Civil"

or:

"Una de les línies de recerca del grup es centra en les museïtzacions a l’aire lliure"

Any ideas on how best to phrase it?

museological conservation
Explanation:
I would play around (according to each context) with terms involving 'museology' and 'museological' - e.g. 'museological conservation' 'museological preservation/archiving' etc.

Here is the best explanation:

Por medio del proceso de musealización, el cual es siempre una decisión humana en tanto acto intelectual y físico, los objetos son, en cierta manera, retirados de la vida, lo cual a la vez retrasa paradójicamente su muerte física. Al musealizarlos, se convierten en testigos de la memoria individual o colectiva, con un carácter de referencia que les ha sido atribuido por el hombre y que no deriva jamás del objeto en sí mismo. Se convierten en objetos de museo y adquieren una nueva cualidad: la ‘musealidad’.

Explanation:
Obviously there isn't going to be a catch-all term; for your first example I would put something like: "creation/development of museum contexts for the Civil War"; and for the second: "open-air museum spaces".
