I'm translating a marriage certificate and am unsure of how to translate this phrase. It's a certificate issued in Spain and the original is actually in Catalan but it would be the same in Spanish.

Visto can mean many things and if 'pursuant to' would work in your context, then that sounds perfect.

Asker: Thanks Jane. Yes I think that oficio is just an official letter but was a bit confused by visto, I think it might actually be something like pursuant to as it’s for a certificate.
