Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering / roads
Spanish term or phrase: tracción indirecta y flexotracción
This a text about recycling car wheel rubber and using it in pavement and road construction.....

The text reads as follows: Se han determinado también las propiedades mecánicas (resistencia a compresión, tracción indirecta y flexotracción) y de elasticidad.

I found indirect tensile but I am not sure if that is correct in this context or if it should be indirect and flexo traction.

I would greatly appreciate your help please.

indirect tensile and flexural strength
Explanation:
I found lots of examples of "indirect traction and flexotraction", but all in translations from articles in Spanish, which made me doubtful, so I think indirect tensile and flexural strength is more likely.

According to some sources on linguee:

**Resistencia a la flexotracción**
**Flexural strength**
**a la flexotracción admisible**
**flexural strength**
stiegler-natursteine.de

El ensayo de **tracción indirecta** (ensayo de fatiga) se realiza para la determinación de la resistencia máxima a la tracción,
zwick.es
The **indirect tensile** test (of cylindrical shaped specimens) is performed for the determination of resistance to fatigue

Examples of both in the context you gave:

. The compressive strength, flexural strength, indirect tensile strength and bond capacity of rubberized concrete were investigated experimentally in this project at 3,7,14 and 28 -days.

Concrete laboratory tests included compressive, flexural, and indirect tensile strength ... The compressive and flexural strength also decreased as the rubber content ... supported the use of recycled waste tire rubber in asphalt rubber hot mix. ... are: roadways or road intersections, sidewalks, recreational courts and pathways ...

Flexural strength would be "resistencia a flexotracción".
"Resistencia a tracción indirecta" would be indirect tensile strength.

Very true, Eileen. It's no fun when there's a deadline to meet.

Thank you for your time spent investigating, that is the problem when translating, lack of time to search for the correct terminology.

Get the traction you need if your car is stuck in snow, ice or mud. Lightweight and flexible traction mat can get you out. Rolls or folds to store in the trunk.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you David, but, being a translator, you know, as I do, that each speciality has special terminology, thus my question, as it is related to civil engineering and not to flexibility in general terms.
