This is actually from a text by a Mexican artist:

De alguna manera el plafón o manta de cielo contiene los elementos principales y tradicionales de cualquier pintura como obra de arte: tela, preparación y pintura; sin embargo, esta manta de cielo fue montada por un trabajador de la construcción que cumpliría la función de cubrir la losa y los trabes o vigas de madera del techo,

Apparently, plafón is platfond (though perhaps drop ceiling would be better). Clearly, manta de cielo is not cheesecloth here, unless that is also used in construction...

Se refiere a una tela de manta (que no es manta de cielo porque es más gruesa) con la que se cubre o empastan los techos y muros en ciertas construcciones rústicas interiores y a veces se decoran. El hecho de instalarla en los techos interiores (o cielos) quizá se por lo que aquí aparece como manta DEL cielo(el techo).
