Spanish term or phrase: un cordón de ratafía/un cordón de reducción de garnacha/un cordón de salsa
Hi there,

In various recipes, I have come across expressions such as: "completar con un cordón de salsa", "en un plato hondo disponer un cordón de ratafía" and "con un cordón de reducción de garnacha".

I have translated 'cordón' as a 'dash' in English, like 'chorro/chorrito' - does anyone have any other suggestions?

Many thanks!

Edible items added to food dishes that provide added flavor and appealing appearances for the items being served. Garnishes may include sprigs of parsley or other greens, fruit slices, croutons, sauces, bits of herbs, or edible flowers. A primary rule of garnishing is that the Garnish should always complement the appearance and flavor of the food. There are a variety of different shapes and cuts made to fruits, vegetables and meats that are consided as decorative cuts made by garnishing utensils. Knives, multi-bladed cutters and other utensils are produced for the purpose of assisting with the garnishing of foods when creating various cuts for food presentations.

Ratafía is a Spanish liqueur which is made by the mashing of different fruits (such as lemon peel, morello cherries, red carnations and green nuts), herbs (like mint) and spices (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, bramble branch) in an alcohol of some sort, generally an aguardiente.
