Spanish term or phrase: Rector
I am translating a Qualifications Certificate and in the first page, the term "Rector" appeared.

Context: "El Rector de la Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina"

Should I translate "rector" as "Principal"? Because I have also seen the term "Rector" in English, so I am a bit confused. Any suggestions?

Doing a google search, I found that directors of medical schools are often referred to as "rectors" in various countries.
