ladle Explanation: In a foundry, a ladle is a vessel used to transport and pour out molten metals. Ladles range in size from small hand carried vessels that resemble a kitchen ladle and hold 20 kilograms (44 lb) or to large steelmill ladles that hold up to 300 tonnes (330 tons). Many non-ferrous foundries also use ceramic crucibles for transporting and pouring molten metal and will also refer to these as ladles. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2012-09-09 15:50:18 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladle_(foundry) |

kettle Explanation: Guy Malgorn's paper dictionary gives three definitions: kettle, pot and air pocket. I think that in this case, 'kettle' could possibly be what you're looking for. http://www.gw.govt.nz/assets/Resource-Consents/Manson-Report... 2.4 Refining Kettles & Furnace Fugitives This group of emissions units consists of 10 Refining Kettles that receive and process lead from the furnaces, as well as hooding designed to capture fugitive emissions from the furnaces (slag and lead tapping hoods, a charging hood at the Blast furnaces, etc.). 2.5 Kettle Combustion Emissions The Refining Kettles are indirectly fired (ie. the combustion products do not contact the process). Therefore, the stacks that exhaust these combustion products are identified separately from the Kettles’ process emissions. The Kettle Combustion Stack emissions (both potential and actual) were estimated based on the maximum firing rate of the burners and the appropriate AP-42 emission factors. http://www.dep.state.fl.us/air/emission/construction/hillsbo... The addition of four 100-ton refining kettles and two 150-ton refining kettles while the four existing kettles will be converted from 75-ton to 100-ton capacities; http://www.dep.state.fl.us/air/emission/construction/hillsbo... Refining kettle means an open-top vessel that is constructed of cast iron or steel and is indirectly heated from below and contains molten lead for the purpose of refining and alloying the lead. Included are pot furnaces, receiving kettles, and holding kettles. http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=ecfr&sid=f70... |
