Tech/Engineering - Engineering: Industrial / Desalination plant
Spanish term or phrase: disciplina (in specific contexts)
Hi, all. I'm working on a tender document for carrying out marine works and design/build of a desalination plant. I'm unhappy about how to handle 'disciplina' as it is used here (in multiple instances). Various examples of use:

- Revisión y preparación de las Adendas de la disciplina (Especificaciones técnicas...)" etc.

My solution here was avoidance, "- Review and preparation of the relevant addendum (technical specifications...)"

However, I'm not sure I can get away with/think of an avoidance in all cases; I am considering 'subject', 'area', 'matter', 'subject matter' etc. There may not be one single ideal solution; or it may very well be that in this context, 'discipline' is a perfectly acceptable solution - advice please!

"- Preparación de Informes de las disciplinas (protocolos de pruebas FAT, CAT y SAT, etc.)"
"- Informe de eficiencia energética de la disciplina"
"El contratista debe preparar el Listado de Entregables definitivo para las disciplinas tratadas en este punto,"
"Los requerimientos más específicos de ingeniería asociados a estas disciplinas se indican en el punto"

etc.

Thanks!

Specialisms or disciplines
Explanation:
I think this would work well....I'm working on the same document (different part!) and that's what I've been translating. 'Disciplines' and 'specialisms' are two very commonly used words in engineering.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks, Jo. Yes, I thought there might be others here on the same thing! :) I am making notes as I go of various concordance items the agency may wish to be aware of, this will be one. I think I will stick with 'disciplines', but will wait a little longer to see what else comes up.
