inside diameter Explanation: Pipe sizes are strange. There is the nominal (inside) diameter which is the advertised size, then there is the actual diameter which will vary according to different grades of steel or other material. It is the actual measured diameter which will determine the hydraulic characteristics of the pipe. http://grupoogman.com/og_it_manual.html http://www.sonicinspection.com/uploads/Size_1-10inch.pdf -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day4 hrs (2014-10-04 00:25:42 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- A picture is worth a 1000 words- To answer Claudia's question re clamp sizes - depending on the type of clamp, they are usually designed to be a little over-sized to take up variations in outside pipe diameters. the one in the drawing is a specialized clamp and its measurements may be more exact. As for the paso de agua, that is the connection at a right anagle (see lower left) that is the supply line take off as Helen suggests. |
