Obviamente es un molino de martillos.
La carcasa superior (upper housing) debe poder ser abierta para mantenimiento de los martillos y para destrabar alguna roca que bloquea la alimentación. Al mismo tiempo debe ser lo suficientemente sólifa para recibir los impactos de las rocas contra su superficie.
Es como si fuera una tapa, fija por un eje lateral, que se puede levantar como la tapa de un piano de cola solo que mucho más pesada..
Es el sentido que tiene la palabra abatible en este contexto.
